Stuck in Our Heads - Vol. 7 - October 2007

Holy crap.

September was the month of infinite regression. It seems like just about everything I tried to do took about a month longer than it should have taken. At work, something bigger than a breadbox came up missing, and I managed not to find it in September (nor thus far in October, for that matter). I placed an order for something that should have shown up in about 24 hours, and it showed up about 24 days later, but only after I got cornered in to talking to the Legal Department of a multinational telecommunications corporation.

To make matters worse, I got a flat tire. I found a mouse living in my kitchen. And, a conglomerate of corporate entities conspired together to lose my iPod-brand portable media player.

Okay, I know I'm not exactly fighting for my life here, but, still, it looks like October is marking no small turn in the machinations of Fate for me. Even at this early moment of the new month, my tire is fixed. In my first attempt at animal trapping, the mouse in question died as she lived: on my kitchen counter. And, after about three weeks of going around and around with the virtual paper trails of my employer, Apple, Inc., and their bottom-rung shipper of choice, that eminent triumvirate (to varying degrees of agency) determined that my iPod-brand portable media player was "lost in transit." As of this writing, I expect to a receive a replacement in 5 to 8 business days. Consequently, October may just be the month when I actually get to listen to both September's and October's playlists.

I'm not holding my breath, but I'm thinking about it.
