Stuck in Our Heads - Vol. 1 - April 2007

I have decided, with the possible exceptions of breakfast drinking or microwaving Hostess cherry pies for 20 seconds to make them even more delicious, this project is perhaps the best idea I have ever had.

The compiled list of April's Stuck in Our Heads entries rambles across genres and history. It reflects the multitude of days my friends had last week - some of those days defined by weather, some defined by the sluice of monumental life changes, some defined by an unfortunate radio channel selection on the morning commute.

I have picked up almost all of these tracks in the past couple of days, and I am in the process of slowly wading in to the list. I am a little surprised at the level of satisfaction I am taking from the collection of songs stuck in our heads. (To illustrate, it inspired me to end a years-old internal conflict this weekend by ordering my very first portable MP3 player.) I am fairly confident there will be some more reflection on the personal impact of this project, but I don't want to hold up the list.

In case you have forgotten, the two-part question I posed was "What was the last song that got stuck in your head because:
1 - it was so good you just never wanted it to end so you mentally played it over and over and over and over...?
2 - no matter what you did, you could not exorcise the wretched melody by any means? (Or, even if it isn't a wretched melody, it certainly stayed well beyond its welcome.)
"

You will notice that I have not separated the list in to #1s and #2s. In addition to the interesting phenomenon of some songs coming from numerous sources (Pink's and JT's people are apparently doing a good job these days; I want to tell you that Sound Master T came up more than once, too, but he didn't. More's the pity.), there were also a few instances of someone's #1 being someone else's #2. As such, I figure I'll just treat it as a single playlist and let the chips fall where they may. After all, we have an old saying in the Stuck in Our Heads biz: one man's torture is another man's treasure.
